The following is excerpted from metadata supplied by The Polis Center for the source shapefile named "HZSCHOOLS.SHP":
"The original Hazus-MH data from 2003 has been updated for sixty seven counties as part of the DMA2000 Multi- Hazard Mitigation Planning process. Local jurisdiction planning teams provided updated school facility location and attribute information to the Polis Center at IUPUI. The Polis Center used available aerial photography to place or adjust the locations of the facilities on top of the building rooftops."
The following is excerpted from metadata supplied by The Polis Center for the source shapefile named "HZSCHOOLS.SHP":
"This data is used to estimate the damage (and resulting loss of functionality) associated with emergency response facilities for a given flood, hurricane, and/or earthquake scenario. By evaluating this information, the Hazus user can determine whether the emergency response capabilities of the region are likely to be overwhelmed by the flood, hurricane, and/or earthquake scenario."
This data set is provided by The Polis Center and contains data believed to be accurate; however, a degree of error is inherent in all data. This product is distributed "AS-IS" without warranties of any kind, either expressed or implied, including but not limited to warranties of suitability of a particular purpose or use. No attempt has been made in either the designed format or production of these data to define the limits or jurisdiction of any federal, state, or local government.
These data are intended for use only at the published scale or smaller and are for reference purposes only. They are not to be construed as a legal document or survey instrument. A detailed on-the-ground survey and historical analysis of a single site may differ from these data.

"The accuracy of the attributes is unknown. All attributes were not populated as part of the hazard mitigation planning effort."
"The content of the data was determined by the local juridiction planning team. The data was used with Hazus-MH to perform Flood and Earthquake analyses."
"Completeness is based on the date of the Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan (MHMPP). The MHMPP was performed for each county and all incorporated communities within the jurisdiction. Emergency responders were part of the local planning team and provided the content.

The following is excerpted from metadata supplied by The Polis Center for the source shapefile named "HZSCHOOLS.SHP":
"Indiana 2005 Aerial photography was used to place the school facility locations."
"The vertical positional accuracy was not a factor in the production of this shapefile."
"For the counties that participated in the MHMP, the 2003 default Hazus-MH MR1 school facilities feature class was exported from Hazus-MH into a county personal geodatabase. The existing facilities were referenced with the aerial photography and points were moved to the building identified on the aerial photography. Additional sources provided by the county were used to add, delete, or modify the list of facilities. A report of the results was presented to planning team members who were given the opportunity to make changes and update attribute values. The planning team edits were made in the personal county geodatabase. At the completion of the planning effort, the county data was imported into the statewide hzschools feature class using CDMS, a data loading tool provided by FEMA. It was then exported to an ESRI Shapefile named "HZSCHOOLS.SHP"."
