Land-use/Land-cover Change in Northwestern Lake County, Indiana, between 1951 and 1990, Indiana, 1990 (5-meter TIFF image)
This data set shows the change in land use/land cover categories between 1951 and 1990 for the northwestern part of Lake County, Indiana. The land use/land cover for both years used in this analysis used the Level II classification scheme of the U.S. Geological Survey, showing 7 major land-use classes. Attributes include a description of the "before" (LU_1951) and "after" (LU_1990) land-use classes, as well as three fields summarizing the land-use change, "DESCRIPT" (describes the before/after land-use classes in one field), "SYNOPSIS" (summary of land-use change categories characterizing types of land-cover conversion), and "GROUP" (broadly grouped conversion types). Three LYR files accompany the downloadable data to facilitate symbolization of the "DESCRIPT," "SYNOPSIS," and "GROUP" fields.
