IMPERVIOUS AREA - HUC14 --
Percentage of 14-digit Subwatersheds Occupied by Impervious Surfaces, 2001 (1:24,000)
This data set presents the percentage of 14-digit subwatershed area occupied by impervious surfaces derived from the 2001 National Land Cover Dataset.
Watershed assessments commonly require this information to identify potential nonpoint source-water-quality issues, pressure on aquatic ecosystems, or to prioritize watershed restoration or watershed protection efforts. Attributes include identification numbers and subwatershed names of 14-digit hydrologic units, the total area in square meters of impervious surfaces in each subwatershed ("SUM_M2"), the percentage of each subwatershed occupied by impervious surfaces ("IS_HUC14"), and a field called "CATEGORY" that represents an assessment of the effect on water quality and aquatic ecosystems based on the percentage of impervious surfaces. The categories are "Protected," "Impaired," and "Degraded." Sources for the impact thresholds are given in the full metadata.
